Patxi Hernández is an Industrial Engineer, specialized in Energy Technologies from the University of the Basque Country, and holds a PhD from University College Dublin (Ireland), where he completed a thesis on life cycle analysis of buildings and energy systems. He has more than 20 years of experience in consultancy and research in areas related to energy efficiency, renewable energy, and life cycle and resource use analysis in the energy sector.

He currently works in the Energy Planning Platform, within the Energy Networks and Systems area. In relation to the OPTIAM project, he has experience in developing prospective energy system scenarios and in assessing the environmental impacts of energy technologies, including aspects of their integration into the energy system. He is also a verifier of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), recognized by the International EPD System (Sweden).
