Francisco Javier Asensio De Miguel
Francisco Javier Asensio de Miguel holds a degree in Industrial Automation and Electronics Engineering (2010) and a PhD in the Integration of Renewable Energies into the Electrical System (2017) from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). He is currently Deputy Director for Academic Affairs and International Relations at the School of Engineering of Gipuzkoa (Eibar section) and Director of the UPV/EHU–Stirling Centre Energy Efficiency Classroom (R&D unit of Mondragón Componentes). He carries out his teaching activity as an Associate Professor in the Bachelor’s Degree in Renewable Energy Engineering and in master’s programmes related to smart grids and hydrogen technologies.
A member of the GISEL research group, his work focuses on renewable energy integration, smart grids, electric vehicles, and hydrogen technologies. His research addresses the management and operation of electrical networks with high penetration of distributed generation, tackling planning, control, and optimisation problems using tools such as CFD and artificial intelligence techniques.
He has received several distinctions, including awards for best academic record, best final degree project, and an Iberdrola scholarship. He has obtained an “excellent” evaluation in DOCENTIAZ and has participated in 24 research projects, co-authoring 17 JCR-indexed articles, 38 contributions to international conferences, 6 book chapters, and one patent.
