ENEDI

Gonzalo Diarce Belloso is Associate Professor in the Department of Energy Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of Bilbao, University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), and researcher in the ENEDI group. He holds a PhD in Thermal Engineering from UPV/EHU and has developed his academic career at the intersection of thermal systems, energy efficiency, and applied modelling. Within JRL ePLAN, his work is especially connected to the planning of decarbonised energy systems, integrating technical, economic and environmental perspectives to support decision-making processes. His expertise includes the modelling and optimisation of energy systems in buildings and industry, thermal energy storage, waste heat recovery, district heating networks, electrification of thermal demand, and the role of flexibility solutions in future energy infrastructures. He has participated in numerous competitive research projects, several of them as Principal Investigator, and collaborates actively with universities, technology centres and industrial stakeholders. His recent work increasingly focuses on how existing and emerging technologies can be combined efficiently at building, district and regional scale to accelerate the energy transition. Through JRL ePLAN, he contributes to multidisciplinary research aimed at developing robust planning methodologies, scenario analysis tools and evidence-based strategies for sustainable and resilient energy systems.
