TECNALIA RESEARCH & INNOVATION

Amaia González-Garrido (PhD) holds a degree in Renewable Energy Engineering (2015), an MSc in Integration of Renewable Energy into the Power System (2016), and a PhD in Electrical Energy Systems (2020) from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), awarded with International Mention and Cum Laude distinction. Her doctoral research focused on optimal energy management and sizing strategies for large-scale electrical storage systems supporting renewable energy sources.

Since 2016, she has developed her professional career within the BRTA alliance and, since 2021, at Tecnalia, in the Flexibility and Advanced Operation of Electrical Networks platform (FLEXIOP). She has been actively involved in—and led—technical tasks in numerous research projects. Her experience includes major European projects (H2020/Horizon Europe) such as ODEON, GLocalFlex, Elexia, Erigrid2.0, SESA, eNeuron, Coordinet, Bamboo, and Renaissance, as well as regional (Elkartek, Hazitek), national (Misiones), and industrial projects.

Her expertise covers optimization algorithms, energy management of distributed resources, electricity markets, flexibility services, and power system operation. She has also contributed to real-time simulation and validation environments. She was a visiting researcher at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and received the BRTA award for “Best Researcher – Emerging Career” in 2023. She has authored over 20 high-impact publications and will act as project manager, overseeing coordination and technical development.
